I want to start by saying that all art is subjective and when it comes to wedding films this couldn’t be more true. Vancouver is known for its close relationship with Hollywood, and working in the shadow of that industry it’s no surprise the quality of wedding films coming out of Vancouver is exceptional.
I created this list of the best wedding videographers in Vancouver BC to help you find someone to tell your story. These selections are merely me expressing my opinions, thoughts, and constructive criticisms. I have my own preferences when it comes to story telling and it’s important to remember that my tastes and style may not reflect your own, and that is perfectly fine. Our differences are what make us unique.
With this out of the way let’s take a look at Vancouver’s best and most creative wedding filmmakers.
Hello Tomorrow Films is run by Maclean and Erin, a cute boho couple specialising in just what you’d expect; stylish, story-driven bohemian weddings. Their passion is to create “…moving and authentic stories about the greatest adventure in life…”
What I like about HTF is the attention they put into story and composition. Personally, I’m a little over weddings shot entirely on gimbals as they tend to create this weird floaty feeling, or unmotivated movements. Although, HTF clearly utilise gimbals in their work, they certainly don’t go overboard with camera movements and cheesy transitions. They have a clean, sensible style that many, including myself, adore.
When I think of Wagner & Co I think of the 80’s, and early 90’s–my childhood–8mm film, dancing the night away, and watching home movies. This highly creative team know just how to tap into your nostalgic bone and make you say, “awwww.”
Honestly, my favourite thing about Wagner & Co is they have a unique style all their own that you simply won’t find elsewhere else in Vancouver BC; and in the wedding industry, that is truly remarkable. “[Wagner & Co] believe in a thing called love–bold, imperfect, unapologetic, remarkable, messy, honest–and have been doing this dance together since 2013.”
For all those out on Vancouver Island who like a less moody and more bright, bubbly and vibrant viewing experience Evergreen & Bound Films have got you covered. Breanna & Grady are so much fun to be around and their work is first rate.
This is not your average wedding film production house. Studio Good has been working as visual effects superstars for the past 10 years on Hollywood features and have accumulated an impressive array of awards and accolades. However, what makes Studio Good really good (sorry) even with their small, yet still growing portfolio of wedding films, is that they focus on telling the couple’s story.
You must remember a wedding film is not just for you, it’s also for your loved ones. It’s so very important that a wedding film attempts to capture who you are and what makes your love unique at that moment in time. As with all of the videographers mentioned here, Studio Good are definitely a production house worth keeping an eye on
Artistic – Avantgarde
Unique – Emotional
