Planning a wedding in Vancouver is an exciting journey, but it’s filled with difficult choices. One of the most significant decisions involves choosing the right wedding photographer and videographer. While there are many options, understanding the value of photography and videography services can make all the difference.
I’ve done the leg work for you and searched all the pricing lists of all the wedding photographers and videographers in Vancouver to create this list of average prices for you. You’re welcome! I’ve separated the lists into three sections. 1. Photography only, 2. Videography only, and 3. Photography and Videography. Generally speaking, you will get better value if you combine photography and videography. I’ve included “Basic services” as an option, but if I were you I’d shoot for the “Mid-range” to “High-end services” as these images and films will be what you take away from your wedding. They will be your most treasured possessions for years to come. It makes sense to invest here. However, if you find providers within the price range I’ve indicated for “basic services” you should come away with a descent product. Nothing amazing, but descent. Anything lower in price than the ranges I’ve indicated should be avoided. I’m serious. Your wedding photos are not something you want to be thrifty about.
Prices are based off of a single shooter (two shooters for photo & video packages) covering a 10 hour wedding. Prices will change when adding more shooters, hours, albums, add-ons, etc.
Wedding photography is the cheapest collection on this list and that has to do with the amount of post processing that needs to be done. There is substantially less editing that needs to be done to photos compared to video and so that is reflected in the price of the packages.
Maybe I’m being biased here by saying that basic video services in Vancouver start at $3000, but as far as I’m concerned they do. Anything below this price point, just isn’t worth the money. You’ll end up with something amateur and shoddy. As a premium video service provider, my video offerings start at $5,200. This reflects not just the capturing of your day but a complete creation that tells your story through artistically captured visuals and and audio.
You can see when you combine both wedding photo and video you do start to see some added value, but it may not be the case that you want the same team for both photo and video so that will have to come down to your personal preference.
I have started offering photo and video packages, and I couldn’t be happier with the ability to create uniformity in both style and presentation for my clients. Finding someone who can handle all the visuals for your wedding means you will have greater peace of mind knowing that both the photos and videos will blend seamlessly together.
The Best Quality and Expertise
Let’s talk about why you should be considering more than just price when it comes to choosing the right photographer or videographer for your wedding. Here is what high-end pricing gets you:
Comprehensive Packages
To expand on this, I understand that every wedding is unique, so, I offer customized packages that include:
While many local photographers and videographers offer services ranging from $1,500 to $2,500, these often services are usually offered by individuals very new to the industry with little experience. There is ultimately a greater risk of missed shots when choosing someone within the “basic Services” category.
In contrast, “High-end Service” providers will ensure comprehensive coverage, with every package designed to meet all your needs without the worry of missing out on any part of your day. I encourage you to invest in recording the memories of your wedding day. These images and films will be all that is left when the dust settles.
